THE NEED

The Industry Has a Data Silo Problem. These Vendors Are Solving It.

Most manufacturers today run a patchwork of systems: historians, MES platforms, quality tools, maintenance software, and AI applications from a growing list of vendors. Each holds valuable data. But they rarely speak the same language.

Teams are spending more time rebuilding integrations than generating insights. AI projects stall before they scale. And every new technology purchase adds another silo to the stack.

This showcase will highlight CESMII & MLC’s vision for the future of manufacturing and then demonstrate how the tech provider community is embracing this new vision via the CESMII Smart Manufacturing Imperatives.

The three SM Imperatives set the foundation for Interoperability: information model standardization, interoperable platform services and infrastructure, and a common API.

If your platform, application, edge device, or knowledge graph demonstrates real interoperability, we want to include you.

Open, standards-based Information Models for manufacturing assets & processes via Cloud Library integration or xml files, then show results

SMImperative2

Instantiate

Types, show Objects bound to data, & Graph Relationships in the platform to build a solid OT data foundation of manufacturing data

SMImperative3

Leverage

i3X Explorer or an Application to highlight the open, common API for rapid application development and scaling AI

 

To be featured in The Manufacturing Interoperability Showcase you must comply with the following: 

Must be a CESMII Member

  • Must demonstrate multi-vendor (or product) Interoperability

  • Demo can include a ChatBot, but please describe the foundation that makes it possible.

  • Indicate Status: Product or vibe-coded solution, GA (General Availability), Anticipated GA date.

  • Max time is 3 minutes per vendor.

  • Pre-Demo with CESMII Team to ensure checklist is met

  • Submit demo video used for Showcase. Optional: submit a longer video to be posted to our website.

  • CESMII will introduce these demos to explain architecture & articulate the value (time & cost, accelerate AI solution, etc)

Edge:

  • Import SM Profile, Instantiate machine, then Show machine connected to demo data (can be already bound)

  • Write to Platform, MQTT Broker, or OPC UA Server to show output structure

  • Other features like Container support for AI on board, Native outputs to other Tech Providers, Easy button for System Integrators

Platform:

  • Import SM Profile (or show configured), Instantiate machine, then Show machine connected to demo data (can be already bound)

  • Must how type definitions in i3X (based on SM Profile or json schema) --all MUSTs of RFC??

  • Show Namespaces/Plant Model (so i3X Client can compare the structure)

  • Show how to gain insights from the demo data via MCP Server/i3X as OpenAPI Tool, Application, or i3X Explorer

  • May publish i3X endpoint for App Vendors

Knowledge Graph:

  • Explain how Information Model structure is ingested/imported, then Show Existing Relationships from SM Profile & Adding new relationships

  • Show how to gain insights from the demo data from End User Point of View

Applications:

  • Show how to gain insights from the demo data

  • If possible, Connect same App to 2 different platforms (1 can be demo i3X Server) to highlight App Portability

The main event. Watch live demonstrations from leading technology providers, each showing multi-vendor interoperability in practice. CESMII introduces each demo to explain the architecture and translate it into business value: time saved, cost avoided, and AI enabled.

A guided breakdown of what you just saw. The CESMII team pulls the demos together into a coherent architecture story, calling out key patterns and what they mean for your smart manufacturing strategy.
